Chronic pain is pain that generally lasts for over 3 months. The pain can be present all the time in one or more places in your body or can come and go. Chronic pain can negatively affect almost all daily activities such as working and social life activities. It can lead to depression, anxiety, risk of suicide, social isolation,  sleep disturbances, loss of energy, unemployment, all of which can potentially make the pain worse. This creates a loop-cycle that’s difficult to break with out professional help.

Approximately 20-25 % of the world population or about 1 in every 4 people suffer from chronic pain. It is one of the most common reasons why someone seeks medical help.

Yes . The Swiss Pain Clinic  offers a wide spectrum of pain management and anesthesiology  services . Many of the interventions offered are fully or at least partly covered by GESY. However as the subspecialty of pain management is relatively new and non protected in Cyprus, many of the pain interventions offered are not included in the catalogue of GESY and as such are not covered by the public insurance plan .

All listed services and interventions will be offered in the pain clinic of Swiss Pain Clinic from board certified physicians in pain management, regardless if they are covered or listed with in the public insurance plan. For further details please contact the financial department of Swiss Pain Clinic and your medical insurance advisor.

Yes . Almost all pain interventions can be done on an outpatient basis where patients can go back home on the same day after the procedure with out the requirement of admission .

No . The Cyprus Medical Council unlike other countries like Switzerland, Germany, USA and Canada does not enlist pain management as a medical subspecialty and as such does not require that physicians have completed clinical fellowship and board certification in pain management before they can be able to practise and bill for pain management services.

We strongly recommend that patients seek help from clinically trained and certified pain physicians.
