The Hypogastric plexus is a bundle of nerves that is located in front of the lumbosacral junction. (L5/S1) This collection of nerves sits near the lower part of your belly and upper pelvis. Blocking the hypogastric plexus involves the placement of anesthetic medications or neurolytic agents (nerve destroying) around these nerves. Typical condition(s) treated with a Hypogastric Block, include pelvic pain, testicular pain, interstitial cystitis, and various types of cancers associated with Pelvic organs. The procedure is performed under C-arm fluoroscopy.
